Gravel Driveway Chalgrove

Mr Shortman lives in a modern detached house in Chalgrove, Oxfordshire. The gravel on his semicircular front garden was worn, uneven and covered in weeds, the kerbstones had sunk and the slabs outside the front door were loose too, so he called us in for a design meeting. 

After the site visit we designed a lovely scheme, using three courses of block paving to strengthen the curve of the edges whilst better retaining the gravel. We included block paved sections for the front step and the small access area to the side door. The fully featured plans and 3D visualisations we gave him allowed him to see exactly how the completed gravel driveway would look before we began work.

Considering Mr Shortman’s problems with his old gravel drive, we specified a new GravelGrip system, which uses plastic frames between the permeable compacted hardcore base and the top layer of gravel. This keeps the gravel in place, prevents depressions forming and protects the weed-proof membrane below the panels.

Once we’d removed two big tree stumps the installation went extremely smoothly and the project was completed within a week.

The result is a beautiful, permeable, weed-proof gravel driveway that will remain flat and puddle-free for years to come.
