The GravelGrip Non-Slip Gravel Driveway System transforms loose gravel driveways
The GravelGrip non-slip gravel driveway system uses a honeycomb substrate to hold the gravel in place. Perfect for cyclists and pushchairs, it’s also great on gradients.
GravelGrip combines a honeycomb support structure with a weed-suppressing geotextile membrane, transforming loose gravel driveways and pathways into a firm gravel surface.
Non-slip gravel driveways can be used with rounded pebbles and decorative aggregate, allowing you find a design and colour that is sympathetic to the style of your home.

Why choose a GravelGrip Non-Slip Gravel Driveway?
“We could see the amount of work and materials going into the project, and are confident in the workmanship. We are delighted with the results, and they had no problem with us making some small changes to the original spec after work had begun. We would highly recommend them!”

THE GRAVELGRIP NON-SLIP GRAVEL DRIVEWAY SYSTEM - HOW IT'S DONE
Safety first!
Make sure you are wearing appropriate safety protection throughout the entire process.
STEP 1: Excavation
Excavate to a minimum depth of 170mm below the finished level. Excavate any soft areas of sub-grade and fill these areas with compacted sub-base material. Treat the sub-grade with weed killer if needed.
A geo-membrane can be laid on top of the sub-grade to prevent the sub-base sinking into the sub-grade.
Edgings are required to retain the GravelGrip system.
STEP 2: Sub-Base
Lay between 100-150mm of sub-base, depending on the weight of traffic on the driveway. Compress the sub-base with a wacker plate.
STEP 3: Grit
Lay 6mm limestone grit to a minimum depth of 20mm on top of the sub-base and compact.
Most landscapers use sharp sand, but we use 6mm limestone grit because it’s more stable, permeable, won’t blow away in the wind and discourages weeds.
You can read the New Driveway GravelGrip technical specs here.
STEP 4: GravelGrip
Cut the GravelGrip with a saw or by hand so that it covers the whole driveway area. Overlap the Geo-Textile underlay where the GravelGrip sheets meet. Ensure the sheets are placed tightly together where they join.
STEP 5: Gravel
Fill the GravelGrip with gravel (50-60mm in size) before placing an additional 10-20mm if gravel above the highest point of the sheets.
