Izzy asked us to design and build a New Permeable Block Paved Driveway in Iffley Road, Oxford.
Izzy is a project manager with bags of design and construction experience, so she had high expectations of our design and installation team.
The old tarmac and gravel drive was very flat and offered very poor drainage, causing water to run off and puddle, so we proposed a new driveway using our proprietary StrongBase super-strong permeable base, topped with Graphite Rumbled Blocks for a contemporary finish.
Working on the busy Iffley Road in Oxford was challenging, but the team managed to move equipment and materials on and off the site without causing disruption to Izzy or her neighbours.
First we had to clear the old tarmac and gravel driveway and two existing brick walls, then we set to work digging, levelling and laying the StrongBase foundation before setting the Graphite Rumbled Blocks on their permeable base of carboniferous limestone.
We also removed, cleaned and refitted Izzy’s bike racks.
