How Do You Install A Permeable Resin Bound Driveway?
We’re here midway through one of our jobs. This is a resin drive in the making and we are three quarters of the way through the job.
The resin will go on top of this permeable tarmac that we see – 75mm of open grade permeable tarmac. Underneath there you’ll find 200 millimetres of Type 3 stone, which effectively means the surface is permeable. What does that mean? It means the water goes through the drive and not over the drive.
Why is that important?
If you look at the way the slope of this drive works, if we had a non-permeable drive, all the water would come down the drive and end up in the garage. There are ways to get over this with a non-permeable surface – for instance and you can discharge the water through a drain into a soakaway. But some people think drains are quite ugly and and don’t look the best.
If you don’t want that, we design a drive where the water goes through the drive. In essence, what would happen if we had a dumper full of water and tipped it up at the back of the drive there? Before it even got to my feet the water would be through the drive and away.
