So warranty is important to everybody. What it does is give you that comfort that what’s been installed is going to be looked after for the next 10 years. It’s really important to understand who warrants what and why.

So I’m not a structural engineer, I do have the public indemnity to be able to design a driveway, but when it comes to weights and trees for instance, we would always bring our in-house structural surveyor in to be able to design something that was fit for purpose.

We did a drive last February which had a 45 degree ramp down to a set of flats and the bin lorries had to go, turn and pick up refuse. Now that has a completely different set of rules structurally to something that was on the flat because a bin lorry at weight or any lorry coming down a hill on the front tires doubles the weight. So all those algorithms unfortunately I’m not capable of of working out myself. So we always bring a structural engineer to back it up to make sure that what we’re building is fit for purpose.
