Daniela and Leo asked us to create a new patio in Abingdon, Oxfordshire. They wanted to improve their outside space, including a step up to the lawn area, and retain a small flower border.
Before we went, we were informed that the client had a particularly aggressive cat, who left a previous workman in hospital with deep scratches to the face and arms.
We went armed with cat treats and were soon friends with the bad-tempered feline.
The original patio was partially concrete – up to 8 inches thick in places – and the area around the house was relatively cramped with little room for depositing spoil.
To solve this problem and remove all the waste, we used plastic sheeting and wooden boards to protect the front lawn while we manually removed the spoil.
The original patio had an inspection chamber that was partially positioned between the neighbour and our client’s land. Without being able to fit a new cover, we had to make precision cuts around the existing cover.
