Simon and Wendy had an unsightly old concrete section at the back of their garden, which the previous owner had intended to use as the base for a garage.
However, it had harsh angled slopes and uneven surfaces which made it difficult to use for parking and not much use for anything else. They had considered having it removed completely, but the cost to break up and take away 40+ cubic metres of concrete as well as pay a new surface was out of their budget.

We suggested levelling and dressing the existing surface in resin-bound gravel to keep costs under control and turn an eyesore into an attractive and useful feature. Simon and Wendy agreed, and we set to work.

It look a day to level up and smooth out the contours in concrete and fix the timber battening around the area, then another day to mix and lay the permeable resin-bound gravel surface, using Harvest Gold colour gravel to match the tone of the garden.

The couple hold an annual mini-festival in their garden and use the raised concrete platform as a stage, so they were keen to have the work completed before then. We managed to shuffle our workload and finish the project the day before, making sure the surface was hard enough for the bands to play on.

Simon and Wendy were delighted, and their guests were very complementary about the new ‘stage’!
